What you will need
Gather a suitable flexible steel tape or non-stretch measuring cable, a ruler, pencil and the physical rack. Use the current official whitetail measurement instructions for point qualification and measurement locations, particularly where points are missing or the rack is unusual.
How to use the worksheet
- Identify the rack. Add a buck or photo reference, measurement date and your name. Keep left and right consistent from the animal's perspective.
- Record measurements. Write inches and eighths in the left and right columns. Enter zero for absent normal points. Use our antler measurement guide alongside the official instructions.
- Calculate each side subtotal. Add the main beam, normal point lengths and four circumference measurements on that side.
- Apply spread credit. Record the widest inside spread perpendicular to the skull centerline. Spread credit is limited to the longer main beam.
- Keep abnormal growth separate. Left subtotal + right subtotal + spread credit gives the gross typical-frame subtotal used on this sheet. It excludes abnormal points and net deductions.
A worked arithmetic example
If the left subtotal is 61 2/8 inches, the right is 60 6/8 and the allowed spread credit is 17 inches, the frame subtotal is 139 inches. This is an illustrative calculation, not a measured RackScore result. It does not establish an official score.
Is this an official Boone and Crockett score sheet?
No. This is an original RackScore personal worksheet. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Boone and Crockett Club. For classification details and official measurement instructions, use the Club's score charts. Record-entry scoring requires a designated Official Measurer; see its scoring guidance.
Have a photo instead of the rack?
RackScore can estimate a buck's score from a photo inside the app. Read how photo scoring works and treat the result as an estimate. Manual measurement and photo estimation should be recorded separately.
